God's Rescue

My hands are tied, and my feet are bound.
God, give me the strength to lay this down.
Guard my heart. Keep me in perfect peace.
Remind me that your plans never cease.
That when all my toiling is done.
God, that is when you have just begun.
Waiting on you to move, I take a peek.
Though darkness has settled and all is bleak.
Asking as I stand here helplessly.
“God, show me glimpses of your victory.”
Your rescue comes in unlikely places.
Out of nowhere and through foreign faces.
I watch as compassion eclipses fear.
Move me to act, to serve you while I’m here.
My story was not written by evil.
And your rescue was a quick retrieval.
No earthly tyrant has the final say.
God you are in control amid the fray.
You answer me from your holy throne.
Clearly, rescue comes from you alone.
